Library Lovin' for Mojo

Now this is more my style...

I was going through library cards to use for a card when I came across this one... the name in the heart is one of the teacher's daughters who is long since out of the elementary school.   I always try to pass those old cards to people who would appreciate them,  so I fancied this one up and will present it to the teacher!

Isn't it cute???

I used the Mojo Monday #409 sketch as the bones for layout:

I used:
  • The DP is BasicGray from the Little Black Dress line (I love that line, bought it all in multiples).  I stamped the paper with Liquid Lead using an eraser.
  • Heidi Swapp designed the "Oh Yeah" and "Remember"
  • I used my Zig 2 Way Glue with some gold foil as some small accent to those cards, and even less on the card itself-- just to lend to that  aged look.
  • The tape that looks like print has been in my stash... I believe it's Recollections
...AND HERE'S THE LINK BACK TO MOJO 409!

Hope you all get scrappy soon!  And if you like this card, I'm about to post one that I made after this one because I love the look so much:-)

Anchors away!

Man,  this was one of those cards that I overhauled twice! Originally I had blue Stickles glitter in place of the grey sequins (the sequins were a HUGE improvement), and I then I edged the card with some string (ummm, could have done without in hindsight based on the way it... ah, nevermind... the creative journey...)

I made this card for the Viva LA Verve Challenge of the week, which was the fifth of five for July. I wish I'd played all month-- I like the idea of a series.

Here is the VLV sketch:

And here is the stubborn... I mean special... card:

MFT #240: un carte de postal...

Two things happened today that usually don't: I made a postcard and used French... bad French, probably.

One cool thing: I used a stamp made by my new niece's aunt... never met this person,  but my niece's mom brought me and the girls stamps made by her sister. Here is her Etsy site: Brown Pigeon.  Check it out.

(This is a little picture I copied from her site of these cute little stamps...)

So, My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #240 is in full swing. It is another nice sketch. (I enjoy the MFT challenges!)  Here is the sketch for reference:

And, ta-da, here is this sweet postcard:

My supplies:
  • The postcard came with a stamp-making kit from SU
  • The stamp is Brown Pigeon
  • October Afternoon letters
  • Tim Holtz's Distress embossing ink
  • Ranger clear embossing powder
  • My kids' Crayola watercolors... haha, they were accessible.  They worked. (I have a fancy watercolor set... need to bust it out, I guess... Or not...)
  • Scotch Washi (striped), and the other two Washis are generic
  • Tim Holtz's Distress Paint in black soot at the edges
Super cool. Plan to mail this to a friend who is on an assignment 3,500 miles from her kids... she is homesick. This will cheer her up.

Long time, no tea...

Hooray!  Finally made it back to TSTR for the Peaches 'n' Cream Challenge!  I haven't been back for years!  Always such an inspiring site.

Here is the beautiful image that inspired challenge-goers this week:

And here is my shabby-ish Peaches* 'n' Cream card:

*As I post the inspiration image near the images of my little card, the inspiration image looks pretty darn orange... I definitely went with a paler peach...

Here's a list of supplies used for today's card:
  • Wilson doily
  • Tim Holtz grungeboard
  • Tim Holtz Distress dauber in Picket Fence
  • Want2Scrap pearls
  • Liquid pearls
  • DCWV Serenity stack paper
  • Martha "flippin'" Stewart corner-rounder
  • Ranger shimmery mist in white
And now I ponder what I'll use this card for... Get well? An elderly person's birthday?  It's too cheery for a sympathy card...  ahhh, these are the things I think about when I'm up to late...

JUG's Word Week: "Autumn"

I love the heat of summer, but FALL IS MY FAVORITE.  The sights,  smells, clothes, food.  Definitely was stoked about THIS CHALLENGE , thanks to Maria at JUGs!

Here is my attempt at summoning the feeling of fall... I mean AUTUMN... ahem...

I actually did some artsy sh*t here!  First of all,  the card was just a kraft card and I distressed it with Tim Holtz's daubers in soot and walnut.  Just ran them back and forth to elicit this almost wood-like look. I used Tim's Grungeboard letters for the word,  and used the same daubers for them, though more of the walnut. Also used some of the shimmery Ranger spray to add a goldy-sheen to the word.   I used scraps for the banner,  and I'm pretty sure they are all BasicGrey papers. The twine comes from my favorite crafting-gangster, Martha Stewart. Oh, the little studs in the lower corners are from Recollections.

I will almost definitely send this to my BF Sarah because she loves fall also... She always displays my dorky cards, and this one will go with her autumn-decor :-)

My first "Addicted to CAS" entry!

My maiden voyage to this challenge site link-up... Here we go!

And here is my attempt!  Is it CAS? It is for me! :-)

I love the way these colors look together.  For the banner I used a banner from an older BasicGrey packet as a stencil and spray-painted kind of "sloppily".  I used my Zig 2-Way-Glue pen to write the sentiment, then laid some gold foil over it.  Had to sprinkle a few sequins, and decided to match the sea-greeny-blue for a mat.

Here is the link back to the CAS Challenge #69... the banner cards by the DT and challenge-goers are inspiring! Like, I want to go craft right now!

Oh, yeah, pass the mason jar!

It was a great day to scrap!  A friend requested a card, and I LOVE making cards for people to give!  First of all, I feel flattered when someone asks, and it makes me feel useful and helpful! The process is my favorite because it is a challenge to match up the card-giver's taste with what the occasion is, and maybe even the card-receiver's taste (if i know).  That is one of my favorite crafty-situations... a mission!

So today,  my awesome friend (much like a sister) asked for a card for a wedding. I was so excited about the request,  but composed myself  enough to ask the colors of the wedding and the "feel" of it... she said turquoise and that they were decorating with mason jars... SAY NO MORE.

So... I had made a card for RetroSketches #175 yesterday... it didn't turn out as I had envisioned, but either way I had the sketch in my little brain when I took on this wedding card.

Here's that sketch:

For the jar,  I used vellum and an embossing pen to write measurement lines and instead of writing "Ball" or another brand, I used to new couple's name! Bam! I embossed with clear embossing powder... so cool!  Pretty much feel awesome because I wasn't sure how it would turn out-- would the vellum burn?-- and it is totally cool... well, besides the rogue dark pieces of wax in my clear powder... rrrr...

I may make another run at pretty much this exact card,  but orient it like this:

Another thing I might do different is round the corners (Some? All?) of the kraft card.  Project for minana.

Here is a general list of supplies I used:
  • Truly vintage JC Penney's seam binding in beige (13 cents!)
  • Want2Scrap pearls
  • BasicGrey paper
  • Custers Last Stamp clear embossing powder
