SOS#328: Autumn Color Palette

Good day to ya'll!

This week at Shopping Our Stash, our hostess Chris is encouraging us to create something based on this beautiful palette:

This is what I came up with:
Here are a few process pictures:

Supplies:

  • Distress Crayons in Festive Berries, Peeled Paint, Hickory Smoke, Fossilized Amber, and Rusty Hinge.  (I was trying to use the Hickory Smoke with the Peeled Paint to achieve the darkest value on the palette, but it didn't work out as I'd envisioned... story of my life.)
  • I drew the fall wreath on some heavy Strathmore watercolor paper then used an old paintbrush with water to blend them a bit.
  • DecoColor paint pen in white was used to try to accent the wreath, but it ended up too glossy for my liking.   To mask this, I added Stampendous Frantage in Shabby White, which actually was the best thing that could have happened since it resembles the Baby's Breath in the image.  Love it.
  • The background diecut was from a David Tutera packet, purchased on clearance years ago.  (I always think things like, "I wonder if Tim Holtz would read this and go, 'Haha, Mario... she bought Tutera's stuff on clearance!'"  LOL.  Anyway, I sprinkled it with Terre Verte Color Bursts and dried it on the wood stove.
  • The sentiment had been printed years ago.  I just cut it out and edged it with the Tarnished Brash Distress Crayon.
I could see more going into a card like this in the future, but it's kinda nice and simple right now.

Hope to see your guys' interpretation of the beautiful color challenge at Shopping Our Stash, and please click the link to visit my stash-shopping homegirls' blogs as well!

  3. Gorgeous wreath, totally hand made, how fabulous is that!!! Love the die cut you used for your background, looks like a trellis on a garden and you colored beautifully, I think it matches the lighter green perfectly.
    Hugs.
