Say what?!

Chris has a fun challenge for us at Shopping Our Stash this week:

Say what?!
Use speech bubbles in your creation.

Speech bubbles (I call them "chat-bubbles") were huge last summer! Anybody got any chat-bubble stash just waiting to be used?  I was always jealous of the gals who owned the chat-bubble die... I think it was made by MFT or Lawn Fawn...

Here's what I came up with:

Supplies and notes:
  • Well, I certainly shopped my stash.  The only new item I used was a replacement MementoLuxe pad on my Hero Arts stamp which I named Kelly Jo.  Kelly Jo is probably not quite a year old, but she's a fave.
  • The chat bubble was cut by yours truly... I actually don't have any chat-bubble stash!  (I have had pieces that I've used... but nothing now!)  So, I shopped my scrap paper stash and grabbed that birthday paper for my chat-bubble, corners snipped with a Fiskars punch
  • The black and white paper is from my stash too, and the bluish background plus the paper-pieced gal is all from a K & Company paper pack, probably a year old.
  • I added a little Viva paper pearls in cream for her flower
And here is the *bonus* card... I made two chat-bubbles out of the birthday scrap, so I busted out another greeting . Thus card had already been given by my daughter to one of her softball teamies:

Thank you for joining us at SOS!  Good luck!

  2. I've been absent due to holidays abroad, but now I'm back and trying to get into crafting and blogging routines again:) two retro images, two speech bubbles but one feels very vintage and one more contemporary. I actually love them both equally. You did great on this challenge even though you didn't have the main element in your stash, but you solved that elegantly cutting your own bubbles and they look professionally made.

  4. Nicely done, Mimi! I love your creative use of the word bubble! Also, thanks so much for the wonderful hanger! I have it hanging on the door of my studio. I am working on how to incorporate string "necklace" in a card or a canvas! So sweet and thoughtful. When it arrived I was instantly energized.
