Stand like silence...

This piece started life about 3 weeks ago and has been added to and altered every few days since:

I think I'm finally happy with it-- or at least I'm scared to mess it up at this point.  I always think, "Law of diminishing returns..."  Plus, I think it looked good sparse.  If I were to recreate this, I might just add dried bits of nature to the bottom and none at the top, or even vise-versa.

Here is the quote:
I saw old Autumn in the misty morn stand shadowless like silence, listening to silence.
Now, if this isn't the personification of "Old Autumn" (the season, not my blog friend), then I don't know what is.

Supplies and notes:
  • Framing mat scrap as backboard, inked with Black Soot at edges and Tim's StampAnon Ledger Script for detail
  • Folded old encyclopedia pages to mat the main panel
  • The main panel is photo paper inked with Adinondack alcohol inks, then blotted with blending solution through Tim's StampAnon Honeycomb stencil. Recollections brads affixed to the corners.
  • "Old Autumn" is from the recently released set by Tim inked with his mixed media palette
  • The black flowers in the corners are wood-cuts by Recollections, painted with Distress Crackle Paint in Black Soot then rubbed with DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Gold Rush
  • The dried sunflowers and grasses are from my yard, and the oak leaves were picked up from a large blue oak in Chico during late summer.
  • The yarn is from Tuesday Morning
I will share this at the following challenges:

  1. This is so dramatic, kind of spooky but I also see the beauty in here. It's such an original piece and I do love it.
