Supplies and notes:
- I recently went to Hobby Lobby (I try to only go once every 18 months for multiple reasons), and I picked up a few supplies I'd been out of. One was carving blocks. I've had a small stash of the SU! sets (thanks to crafting friends who aren't so into the carving thing), but I ran out. So I picked up the cheaper "blue" Speedball... NEVER AGAIN! Very crumbly, not for fine detail. I should not have let the low price lure me from the vinyl or red. BUT... I do love the stamp I busted out last night. It's a quote from Modest Mouse... my fave quote by them, I think. My next tattoo. Anyway, I love the rough look of a hand-carved stamp, so I made no effort to clean it up. I just need to keep it stored high... the Treeing Walker Coonhound loves hand-carved stamps best of all. Brat.
- Stamped it in MementoLuxe ink
- The paper is watercolor paper that got all-kinds of crazy love one night. I think it was a scrap, then I focused on it, then it got some Dylusions Fresh Lime overspray... It was just in my sight last night as I was getting stamp-happy with this new one, so this is the finished product.
- Husband wondered if I meant it to be so offset. Yes.
This will end up on my wall somewhere in a prominent position.
Fabulous card! Thank you for joining us at TioT.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried carving my own stamps - yours is brilliant and I love how you used it! A good quote to keep on show! So pleased you joined us again at Try It On Tuesday! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny. Of course you meant it to be exactly as it is! DOH! Cool carving, something I've never done. Well, except for a linocut based on MC Escher in high school... Oh my... Love the inky background!
ReplyDeleteCool, your own made stamp! I like it's roughness, coolness and kind of youthfulness. Great splatter background too
