Striped tree birthday card

Is this what you expected from that weird post title? I wish I had a better titling system.  How do you name your posts?

Supplies:

  • The circle was a by-product of THIS card
  • Stripes made using Distress Stain embossed with clear EP
  • Tree is a Tim Holtz die, pre-cut from a scrap of kraft and sitting in my stash
  • I added pewter, brown, and light green EP to the tree randonly
  • I wrote the sentiment using Distress Crayon in Black Soot with water and a small paintbrush.

I will share this with the following folks:

Showing my age...

So, nobody even uses a camera for pictures anymore, least of all teens,* but since this is a card for a middle-aged person, no one will notice the discrepancy between the camera stickers and Snapchat!

Supplies:
  • Tim Holtz's Black Soot Distress Stain painted in lines on Strathmore watercolor
  • While ink wet, Lindy's Stamp Gang EP in Queen Sheba's Silver added over top and heat-embossed
  • Circle punch from Autumn (thanks!)
  • Sentiment written with a paintbrush in some scribbled Distress Crayon in Black Soot with water
  • Camera stickers from Chris (thanks!)
  • Red background paper from a DCWV stack

* I hate generalizations... Of course people use cameras, just not most people.

Masculine Deer Birthday Card

A friend requested a card for her teenage nephew-- thankfully she didn't see me frown-- cards for teenage boys? Does it get any harder than that? Obviously, sympathy cards can be emotionally difficult, but I'd say for me, teenage boy cards are most difficult in terms of design.

Tell me in the comments what *you* think is the most difficult card type to design.

Here's what I ended up with, and in spite of my apprehension it came together rather quickly:

Supplies:
  • Strathmore watercolor paper painted with stripes of Black Soot Distress Stain
  • While still wet, I added old clear embossing powder and heat embossed it
  • The circle was punched with a die from Autumn (thanks!)
  • Deer die by Hampton Art cut from Tim Holtz's paper
  • Greenery die by Tim Holtz cut from a scrap of DP
  • Sentiment panel is vintage typewriter paper, crumpled, inked with Antique Linen DI, then stamped with a birthday greeting from Target's dollar bin inked in Ground Espresso from Tim's Mixed Media palette.

Smile Today

Here are two cards made using alcohol ink backgrounds, made a while back, just found in my drafts!

Supplies and notes:

  • Alcohol Ink and Ranger blending solution on photo paper for the first one, and Silver alcohol ink paper for the second
  • Sparkly Thickers
Simple but lovely-- I didn't love using the silver alcohol ink paper at the time, but looking back on these, I think maybe I need more!

I'llama share these at STAMPlorations for their April challenge to focus on the sentiment.

Live it up!

I've used this sentiment before-- so funny!

Supplies:

  • AI Girlfriends: Beach Babes stamp bought two summers ago
  • Stamp inked on Strathmore watercolor paper with Ranger Archival in Jet Black then heat set
  • Image colored with Spectrum Noir pens (skin and grey), Prismacolor pens (pinks), and a Sharpie for the lime green.  My only regret is using too dark a grey for some of the shadows... specifically for her legs.
  • The background was watercolored with Loew Cornell watercolors
  • Sentiment written with a paintbrush in some scribbled Distress Crayon in Black Soot with water
  • Circle punch from Autumn (thanks!)
  • Daisy stickers by Martha Stewart (this is my second pack of these-- love them.  I wasn't planning to include them, but some of my watercolor background looked icky, so they provide a good cover-up)
  • Core'dinations cardstock for mat

You are lovely

Made this for a friend:

She sprained *both* ankles, and if that wasn't bad enough,  she's a hairdresser (so she's on her feet all day!) Poor thing... so I thought a general "You rock" kind of card would be appropriate.

Supplies:
  • "Dear Lizzy" diecut words on watercolor paper which I colored yellow using Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals in Neon Yellow then coated with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic... haven't used that in months and months!
  • The black/white/floral paper is from the DCWV Watercolor pad
  • The mat paper is from a Heidi Swapp pad
  • Gold studs by Ki/Hampton Art

I'll share this at STAMPlorations, April: Focus on sentiments.

Colorful Thank You

(FOUND IN DRAFTS)

It finally  came together,  but every time I see it, I'm looking at it sideways... too off-balance?  It's,  like,  hard to look at for some reason... I don't know.  I'm confused, LOL! I wonder if Tim Holtz would cry if he saw it!

Supplies:
  • Tim Holtz resist paper inked with Dis in Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed
  • All dies are Tim's
  • Flowers colored with Color Bursts
That's about it!
