SOS 382: Washi-washi-washi!!!

This week at Shopping Out Stash, Donna is our hostess, and she has chosen the theme WASHI WASHI WASHI!  What a perfect theme for stash-shoppers... who can resist decorative tape?  I mean, it's useful, inexpensive, and oh-so-stashable.  So, let's use it up!

Supplies:

• Candy cane paper from a co-worker... she gave me sheets and sheets, so I've got to use it up!
• Tiny envelope template from Paper Source, a store in Berkeley, CA.
• Once envelopes made, Liquitex gesso was sponged on for a frosty-glow
• Various washi tapes added, including the following brands: K & Company, Scotch, and I *think* the "Oh Happy Day" might be Jane Davenport... and the gold-striped tape is generic, I believe.
• Pre-cut mistletoe sprigs and tree, all Tim Holtz dies
• Tim Holtz Holiday Quotations stickers, specifically used from sheets I had used the least of (in the interest of stash-shopping!)
• Stickles in Xmas Red and Silver

Merry and bright rooster

This is a fun one:

I always love non-traditional colors for holidays!  This card was a fast-make:  I stamped the rooster weeks ago and I cut the sentiments weeks ago also.  Didn't plan for them to be together,  but they were right in a pile on my desk together-- serendipity.

Supplies:

• I carved the rooster stamp based on an image I took of my friend's rooster, Roo-Roo.
• Roo-Roo was stamped on Canson Mix Media paper with Recollections gradient ink,  bought two years ago on clearance at Michaels.
• Tim Holtz holiday sentiment dies cut from scraps

A CASE of wine...

Haha, I CASEd a CASE of a wine label!

Here's mine:

Click HERE to see Chris's.  She and I exchanged messages about holiday versions, and she brought up poinsettias... duh.  So I am CASEing hard!

Supplies:

• STAMPlorations poinsettia stamp inked with Distress Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Recollections EP in black
• Sentiment written with a Ranger Letter It pen and heat embossed with Recollections EP in white
• Viva Paper Pearls in Anthracite
• All paper used were scraps!

Holiday watercolor wreaths

I've been wanting to make a bunch of holiday cards... this was a good start:

Supplies:

• Watercolor paper painted with Jane Davenport watercolors and accented with Finetec metallic watercolors.
• Scraps of solid textured cardstock used to mat.

Merry Cluckmas

Made this set for a friend of mine.  Sorry about the pictures-- you know how hard metallics can be to photograph!

Supplies:

• Green cardstock
• Finetec Gold watercolors
• Hand-carved stamps inked with Distress Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Recollections in Snow (these stamps were carved based on pictures of my friend's chickens!)
• Stickles accents in Xmas Red

SOS: Christmas in July

This week at Shopping Our Stash, I am the hostess and I chose the theme Christmas in July!

Here is my stashy card:

This image shows the warped panels due to Dimensional Magic on thin Canson paper... but more importantly... the snowflakes!!! 

Trying to show more glittery love... ahhh, the elusive craft-shot of glitz...

Supplies:

• The "house" was made first by inking a piece of Canson Mix Media paper with Shabby Shutters DI through Tim's Stripes stencil. I stamped Tim's small snowflakes inked with Distress Embossing Ink and embossed with Ranger Letter It embossing powder in Bridal Tinsel (used only once before).  Then I inked the edges with Antique Linen DI.
• The "house" was then mounted on a scrap of green glitter cardstock originally from a DCWV pad called "Serenity" I believe.
• The door and sentiment were stamped using a never-been-used set by Inkadinkado, inked with Ranger Archival in Jet Black.
• The door was colored using Barn Door DI and Tim's waterbrush.
• I sketched the windows using an 005 Micron, colored them with Stormy Skies DI and a waterbrush, then added Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to all windows (including on the door panel).
• The garland adorning the top and the wreath was made using Elmer's Craft-bond glue and Peeled Paint Distress Glitter (YUM... love is so much).  There are touches of Stickles in Xmas Red (this is so stashy-- this was my very first tube of Stickles ever, and I have been on the l"last drop" for two years... amazing how far you can stretch a product when you are about out!  Same goes fro my Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, though I noticed during this project that it is starting to yellow-- time for new.)
• The sentiment was just cut into a banner by hand, then I added some Antique Linen DI 
• I added new and never been used glittery Stickles to the windows and sentiment... not stashy, but glad to use it!  I used up my last tube and went without it for some time.
• The bushes were the best: I used a tiny scrap of silvery-gold glitter paper and inked it with Ranger Distress Alcohol Inks in Meadow and Oregano then cut it was parts of a Crafter's Companion die of oak trees.  I wish the pictures did it justice!

This was fun to make.  Very sparkly IRL.

Christmas tag, no stamping

Was inspired by the current challenge at Merry Monday, and even managed to make the project appropriate for Jingle Belies!  Made this entirely this morning--often I work in pieces and finish things up as inspiration strikes, and in the interest of time-efficiency.  Not this one!  All in a moment of holiday inspiration!

I wanted to show the cool twine from my stash-- kept from a gift.  Normally, I might not keep red and white twine (ummm, 'cuz I have plenty...), but you can see the comparison above-- this stuff was kept because it is so nice and thick!

Supplies:

• I scribbled Picket Fence Distress Crayon on a Distress tag, then (tried) to coat it with Distress Stain in Broken China.  Well, the crayon resisted as I'd hoped, but the stain pad was getting "gunky" from the crayon, so I kind of just dabbed it around and then sprayed with water.
• After that, I went through a couple iterations of spritz-dry, which is how the awesome snowy scene was made!
• The car is a sticker from Carta Bella from last year
• The ground was cut using Tim's Home For The Holidays die set for the first time, as was the sentiment, both cut from scraps.
• The golden "snowflakes" are actually from a Fiskars flower stamen punch, but they look like retro little snowflakes to me!
• The twine was kept from a gift.

Jolly tag

How 'bout that?-- a holiday tag in April!

Supplies:

• Distress tag sprayed with Dylsuions first in Lemon Zest
• Tag then sprayed through Tim's Diamonds stencil with various Dylusions sprays
• "Jolly" is a Hero Arts stamp.  I double-embossed it with Distress Embossing Ink and Custer's Last Stamp silver EP
• I also inked Jolly Santa (by Stampendous) with the same inks and embossing powder.
• The yarn is a snippet that *I believe* came from some packaging of stamps purchased from Andrea at Snapping Monsters.

Merry LITTLE Christmas!

Made these to participate with Jingle Belles this week, and to bolster my card collection:

Supplies:

• Hexagon-embossed cards from the dollar section of Michael's 
• Christmas paper scraps punched with a small Fiskars hexagon punch
• 3M adhesive tape used to pop up shapes
• Viva Paper Pearls in red
• Tim's Christmas Quotations 

Ummm... that's pretty much it... 

I definitely had great craft therapy time piecing these together!

Last year, I stored my Xmas box on a high shelf in the craft shack and the result was: few Xmas cards through the year!  So I'm keeping it down low this year because I love Xmas year-round!

Trying to complete the holiday cards I started this past season... Here's one I began in December:

I just finished it on Sunday.

Supplies and notes:

• Snowflake sky made by inking Tim's small snowflakes with Distress Embossing Ink and embossing with Distress Antique Embossing Powder in Turquoise
• Sky then dipped in DOx in Vintage Photo
• The deer was from a goodie bag from The Funkie Junkie Boutique; I inked it with Distress Embossing Ink and heat embossed with Ranger in Potting Soil
• Vintage seam binding bow
• Tim's die for the "Merry"
• Torn scrap watercolor paper for the lower background
• The ledger print paper as part of the mounting is from a generic paper pad
• The blue mounting is cardstock by Recollections

That's it!
