SOS 442: Here comes Peter Cottontail...

...hopping down the bunny trail!

The current challenge at Shopping Our Stash has to do with spring and bunnies :)

Here's the card I'll mail to my niece:

Supplies:

  • Paper by Heidi Swapp from 2015 back distressed with a Making Memories distress tool from a decade ago.
  • Letters cut using Tim Holtz dies purchased recently
  • Brad by Basic Gray from 2012--the pack had never been opened.
  • The leaves were cut long ago using a Tim Holtz die ("Laurels")
  • The gold key and fluer-de-lis and the white stickers are from a little diecut pack by EK Success ("Parisian Florals") from 2015
  • That fantastic trim is by K & Co. from at least 10 years ago-- did not realize it has an adhesive backing!!!  It's like pockets in a dress!
  • Nuvo drops in Ivory Seashell
  • Bunny sticker from a sheet from years ago.

Thanks for visiting.  Have a happy spring and Easter if you celebrate it.

SOS 441: The rainbow connection

Awww, I just think of sweet little Kermit singing that song.  This fortnight at Shopping Our Stash, the team is encouraging you to dig into your stash to create a rainbow-inspired feast for the eyes.

Here's my birthday card:

Supplies:

  • Artist's Loft watercolor paper (it's great for stamping because it is inexpensive and therefore thinner and it is also smooth.)
  • Ken Oliver Color Bursts in a rainbow of colors!  I've had these for a few years.
  • Rubbernecker Mini Distressed Squares Background stamp purchased 3 years ago at the Sacramento Stamp Expo.
  • Above-said stamp inked with Ranger Letter It embossing ink and embossed with a pearly EP from a Recollections, both from over three years ago.
  • Thickers from 2015.  I used a ruler taped to my craft mat to have even angles for the words-- I did it just right but in these pictures look not so
  • Iridescent red gem stickers by DCWV from 2013... never used this pack!
  • Turquoise card cut from some bulk Bazzill paper I need to use up! I cut it to fit a yellow envelope I  have had since I started cardmaking.  I need to do this more often because I think it is fun to send colorful envelopes-- I usually do white or kraft.

Thanks for visiting.  Have a bright week!

SOS 440: Oh, the places we'll go (after the pandemic!)

Who is ready to GET OUT OF TOWN?  What a crazy year it's been!  The current challenge at Shopping Our Stash focuses on the the future!  Where you wanna go?

I know many people camped this past year, but we just got a new-used trailer and want to go visit places... but not if they are all shut!

Supplies and notes:

  • Photo Play paper from years ago... I love this paper and tried not to cover it up.
  • Stampendous stamps from 2016 inked with Ranger Archival Ink and colored with DI in Chipped Sapphire and Aged Mahogany. I wish this turned out a little more vivid.  I may go over the ink on the trailer with stickles or Nuvo Drops.
  • Viva Pearl Pen in Anthracite from many years ago used for the tire
  • MME enamel dots from 2014

Thanks for virtually visiting!  So curious where everyone else wants to go!

*Okay, I REALLY miss Disneyland... who knows if it will ever open in California again.  What a crying shame.

SOS 439: All about family

The latest challenge at SOS is ALL ABOUT FAMILY!

In spite of all of the hilarious snarky statements about family, I actually love my fam, LOL, and of course ended up with a cute card... not snarky at all!  These are my girls:

Supplies and notes:

  • Starry paper by Pink Paislee 2016
  • The wooden stars are from Studio Calico from years ago.  These ones were actually pulled from a project I apparently didn't like... no recollection of what it even was.
  • Stamp carved by Yours Truly based on a picture of my girls in Tahoe at the end of 2019. I used Speedycarve rubber and I think Flexcut tools... can't remember.
  • Ranger EP in Princess Gold (I already have a replacement jar but I'm finishing up my original jar.  Funny how long a product lasts when you are at the tail end!)
  • Ranger Letter It embossing ink
  • Vellum "moon" cut from some packaging
  • Glossy Accents and Tombow adhesive
  • Park Lane gold paper (This came in a little 6x6" pad from Joann's and it is sooo nice... it's such a nice matte gold, it matches the Princess Gold perfectly!  Recommend!)
  • Tim Holtz Metallic Quotations

Thank you for visiting, folks! Look forward to seeing what you make for this challenge!

SOS 433: Tic-tac-toe

Hi, guys!

This fortnight at Shopping Our Stash we have a fun Tic-tac-toe for you!!! I love Tic-tac-toe challenges-- really gets my mind going.

Here's the board:

I primarily went with PLAID/TWINE/NEUTRALS plus I added kraft and die-cuts.

(...and a bonus picture of Maude and Millie... I guess I accidentally tapped it with the upload!)

This is the second project I made for this challenge*:

Supplies and notes:

  • Perfect Medium pen, have had it for years, still works great.
  • Recollections embossing powder in Snow (a.k.a. white) from 2015, still pretty clean!
  • Kraft scrap from the making of the kraft card
  • Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Stripes stencil.  I have had this for years, probably one of my first stencils. 2013 maybe?  Anybody know?  I used it to make a plaid background.  I want to say I first saw this technique from Autumn at SewPaperPaint like a lifetime ago.
  • Stencil was inked in the following DOx: Iced Spruce (which is more grey than green), Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain
  • Leaves cut using a Tim Holtz die long ago.  I cut things with my dies and store them for future use in empty CD cases on a CD rack. It's a good system for someone like me who doesn't often want to get my BigShot out...
  • Twine from a package, stashed in my fiber jar.
  • Ancient button added at the last minute using Glossing Accents.
  • Hard to tell from the picture but the whole panel is popped up, as is the sentiment.

Thanks for visiting,  and I hope you are planning to play along!

*I was WAY into my first project, all the way through... I was totally digging it.  Somehow, I didn't execute on the finished product.  I think I will change the yarn and the sentiment.
