SOS: What's shakin'?

This week at Shopping Our Stash, our hostess Chana is encouraging the rest of us to make shaker cards!  Not my strong suit... but after one failed attempt, this is what I've come up with:

I scored the card to create room for the shaker component since the flags/banner was cut from the surface of the card.

Supplies:

• The base card was from a set by Studio G (inexpensive package from Michael's) and it already had the flags cut.
• Heidi Swapp woodgrain stamp had never been used so I inked it with Antique Linen DOx and added to the card base.
• 3M dimensional adhesive and clear hoarded packaging was used to build the shaker, filling with generic sequins.
• Birthday sentiment brushed in Tumbled Glass Distress Crayon, scribbled on my mat and sprayed with water
• Sentiment accented with Jane Davenport paint-over pen 
• Stickles also added to accent the sentiment and the "spine"
• Additional sequins added with Ranger Glossy Accents
• Coral baker's twine from stash

Well, I look forward to seeing your shaker cards at Shopping Our Stash!  I have only made like 4 in my life, and I think I only ever liked the first one... I'll need to see if I even have a picture of it...

Deep Sympathy

A family-friend's father died unexpectedly necessitating a sympathy card.  Boo!  But this came together rather quickly:

Supplies:

• Strathmore paper masked with a torn edge and inked with the following DOx: Faded Jeans, Frayed Burlap, Bundled Sage
• Tim's Stripes stencil laid over the inked area and spritzed with water
• Sentiment brushed using those same inks listed above, sorting here and there to alter the colors
• Splatters added with the extra ink on my mat
• Tim's wildflower inked with DOx in Peeled Paint and Bundled Sage

SOS: Get kraft-y!

This week at Shopping Our Stash, Donna is our hostess and she has chosen the theme Get Kraft-y!

This is the kraft-y tag I came up with:

I must say I did not like this tag during it's creation, and I even had a restless night one night imagining how I could dismantle it and use the pieces.  In my dream, I tore the girls and I was upset, so I got up the next morning and followed through with the project.

Supplies:

• Ranger tag inked with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain DI
• The main visible layer is a piece of kraft paper inked using a Ranger gel plate and Picked Raspberry Distress Paint using a stencil that I made when I first got my Cricut Explore Air 2.  I also inked this with Walnut Stain DI and distressed at the edges.
• The layer behind that layer is a piece of patterned paper from a DCWV succulent pad/kit.
• I stuck a few pieces of kraft and kraft-esque ephemera  in there, including one of Tim's old adage tickets and a piece from a Crate Paper pack.  There is also a wildflower from Tim's Wildflowers 2 pack that I had cut from kraft in the past.  I "painted" it using DOx in Frayed Burlap and Picked Raspberry
• Tim's Paper Dolls are sitting atop a strip of scrap kraft. 
• One of Tim's fluted stars was added with a touch of Ranger Mushroom alcohol ink and some Stickles in silver.
• Stickles in silver added to the shoes, too...
• The quote was cut from an old book and adhered with Distress Collage Medium in Vintage.
• The yarn is my fave-- and this particular strand is super-stashy: I used it last year to tie up a plant (a sunflower?) that was hanging into the lawn, then it lived on the fence all year until I cut it down and set it in my stash jar.

SOS: Christmas in July

This week at Shopping Our Stash, I am the hostess and I chose the theme Christmas in July!

Here is my stashy card:

This image shows the warped panels due to Dimensional Magic on thin Canson paper... but more importantly... the snowflakes!!! 

Trying to show more glittery love... ahhh, the elusive craft-shot of glitz...

Supplies:

• The "house" was made first by inking a piece of Canson Mix Media paper with Shabby Shutters DI through Tim's Stripes stencil. I stamped Tim's small snowflakes inked with Distress Embossing Ink and embossed with Ranger Letter It embossing powder in Bridal Tinsel (used only once before).  Then I inked the edges with Antique Linen DI.
• The "house" was then mounted on a scrap of green glitter cardstock originally from a DCWV pad called "Serenity" I believe.
• The door and sentiment were stamped using a never-been-used set by Inkadinkado, inked with Ranger Archival in Jet Black.
• The door was colored using Barn Door DI and Tim's waterbrush.
• I sketched the windows using an 005 Micron, colored them with Stormy Skies DI and a waterbrush, then added Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to all windows (including on the door panel).
• The garland adorning the top and the wreath was made using Elmer's Craft-bond glue and Peeled Paint Distress Glitter (YUM... love is so much).  There are touches of Stickles in Xmas Red (this is so stashy-- this was my very first tube of Stickles ever, and I have been on the l"last drop" for two years... amazing how far you can stretch a product when you are about out!  Same goes fro my Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, though I noticed during this project that it is starting to yellow-- time for new.)
• The sentiment was just cut into a banner by hand, then I added some Antique Linen DI 
• I added new and never been used glittery Stickles to the windows and sentiment... not stashy, but glad to use it!  I used up my last tube and went without it for some time.
• The bushes were the best: I used a tiny scrap of silvery-gold glitter paper and inked it with Ranger Distress Alcohol Inks in Meadow and Oregano then cut it was parts of a Crafter's Companion die of oak trees.  I wish the pictures did it justice!

This was fun to make.  Very sparkly IRL.

SOS: Feed Me!

This week at Shopping Our Stash Donna had asked us to create something inspired by this phrase, "feed me!"

• Paper entirely from my stash box. Wish I could give names, but the best I can do is Heidi Swapp and Teresa Collins...

• Wood-look letters from way back... Packaging long gone
• The milk and cookies stamp was purchased recently from Tuesday Morning then never used... until now.  Cookie colored with a Rexel Derwent watercolor pencil.
• Blue enamel dots by Prima; black rhinestones from Micheal's in the dollar bins.
• Twine from my stash.

• Library catalog card bar inked with Distress Oxide Inks some months ago
• Butterfly and text cut from an old field guide that belonged to my grandparents
• Liquid Pearls in gold
• Flowers from my stash
• 5/8" grosgrain ribbon from my stash
• Tim Holtz Ledger Script stamp added to parts of card with Vintage Photo archival ink
• Vintage Photo Distress Crayon drawn and blended at edges

Floral watercolored tag

Here's a nice bright one:

Supplies:

• Ranger tag coated with Teresa Collins modeling pasted through Tim Holtz's Stripes stencil
• When dry, roses, leaves, then background painted with Kane Davenport watercolors.
• Roses accented with Finetec Pearlcolors in Sterling Silver
• Sentiment written on black cardstock with a Signo white pen
• Black and white baker's twine from stash
• Black Liquitex gesso rubbed at edges.

Index Card A Day, Day 35

I've been participating in this year's Index Card A Day Challenge by Daisy Yellow.

Here is the library catalog card for Day 35:

This was made on a library card using Jane Davenport watercolors, a Jane Davenport brush pen, a Tim Holtz paper doll, and a quote from an old unknown book.

I am sharing this with the current Inkspirational challenge because I believe the sun idea was in my mind when I created the card.

If you've never heard of the Index Card A Day Challenge, I strongly suggest you go check it out.  It's been terrific this summer because I've been so busy that it keeps me creative, even on a small scale.

She had ridden out storms

I spent some time working on this tag this Thursday morning:

Note the burnt ends.

Note the floral pattern on her dress.

Supplies:

• Ranger tag coated with Teresa Collins modeling paste through Tim Holtz's Stripes stencil
• When dry, tag sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang spray in Ethereal Emerald
• Old Basic Grey patterned paper cut to fit then edged with Walnut Stain Distress Paint
• Recollections brads painted with Walnut Stain Distress Paint and affixed
• Pine branch dies by Tim Holtz/Sizzix cut from kraft and Core-dinations metallic kraft-core.
• Deer charm (with loop cut off) added with a hot-glue gun.  The charm came last winter in a goodie bag from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
• The lady is from Tim's Paper Dolls.  I inked her with Ranger Adirondack Alcohol Ink in Mushroom but rubbed it off of her face and shoes-- didn't want spots there.  What was cool, though, was how the speckled alcohol ink brought out the floral pattern of her skirt!
• Stickles added to her toes... and somehow this improves the entire project.
• Old seam binding cut and I was wondering if it was a poly-blend, so I tried to burn it to abate fraying, but this was apparently 100% cotton, so I just burnt the edges.  Will have to remember this as it left a cool dark edge.
• The quote was snipped from an old book and adhered with Distress Collage Mediums in both Matte and Vintage.

SOS: Geometric Patterns

Where is the time going?  I want my summer to go more slowly!

Here we are... another Tuesday and Shopping Our Stash has a brand new AWESOME challenge: geometric patterns!  Our hostess Chris would like to see some rad crafters using geometric patterns in their crafting!  So let's do this!

Here is my library card art:

Supplies:

• Library catalog card base painted with excess Jane Davenport Mermaid Marker Ink.  
• I then put down Tim's Diamonds stencil and traced a few triangles here and there with a black Micron and then colored them in with Mermaid Markers
• I traced the edge of the card loosely with a black fine-point Sharpie just to contain it.
• For more geometric goodness, I used an old paper Heidi Swapp triangle stencil and added some Liquitex gel texture with glass beads-- definitely a stash item... I do not use this nearly enough.
• The yarn was from my scrap fiber jar.
• Tim's photobooth couple provides a great image for the quote, cut from an old discarded Nancy Drew book (I think... or some old discarded mystery reader... that's all I can remember because I read the old books as I cut them up!  I know it was an old youth-lit mystery!)  I adhered the quote with some Distress Collage Medium in Vintage.  
• Oh wait: the photobooth couple was cut out, distressed, and inked with Distress Alcohol Ink Mixative in Gold thinned with Distress lending Solution.
• In the spirit of SOS, I used a stamp that I don't think has ever seen ink... It was from a clearance Recollections set, and it says "No.___"... I inked it with Spiced Marmalade DI and stamped out a few times here and there.
• For the final touch, a little symbolism: I added the diamond as a nod to the engagement of the couple, but tucked it behind the picture to symbolize the secret nature of it!
