SOS: A few of my favorite things...

We've got a fun challenge for you this week at Shopping Our Stash!  Our hostess, Donna, has chosen the theme My Favorite Things!  So think for about 5 seconds about your faaaavvvvvorite supplies/techniques/stamps et cetera, and get busy!

My favorite things include:

So, just to be clear, I love birds.  I love old birds clipped from old books.  I love doing art on library catalog cards because I love the look and practicality.  I love using powdered pigments through stencils.  I love using a mini-blender in DI.  I love using old snippets from old books.  I love adding glue from my finger to paper.  I love using my sewing machine on paper.  So much of my favorite on this project that I really just can;t stop.  I could go on and on.  I hope you like it.

Supplies:
  • Library catalog card base inked months and months ago with Indigo Color Bursts through Tim's Florals stencil
  • The bird was fussy-cut from an old bird guide that Andrea found at a thrift store
  • Before I adhered the Common Yellowthroat, I added some DI in Seedless Preserves to pull some of the purple from the stenciled area.
  • The little quote was in my quotes-snippets box
  • I used Distress Collage Medium in Matte for all my gluing purposes
  • In the end, I used up the rest of the thread already on my sewing machine for the edges.
  • The hold was reinforced by a vintage Dennison hole reinforcer.  Fabu, don't you think?
See you at Shopping Our Stash!  I expect a lot of visitors to the blog because who needs to be asked twice to participate in a challenge like this!?

I love your work and this project is a fine example of why. I always find a message and that message is always uplifting and inspiring. Keep it up!

  6. Gorgeous blue colors as a background for your beautiful bird, you did some amazing fussy cutting and fabulous stitching.
Lovely card and I love the sentiment, now that the birds are flocking to the feeders, it's a sweet sight.

  7. This is great art... you've made something that looks so simple but actually requires some thought and design and in the end looks stunning! Haven't seen that stencil but I love birds and I love the colours you chose. It all comes together so beautifully. Lovely!
