Matryoshka tag

Here's a folksy little matryoshka tag:

Supplies and notes:

  • Fiskars punch used on paper sent by The Miss Sew-Paper-Paint, Autumn
  • Patchwork achieved with a matte Mod Podge layer on a full library card
  • Patchwork then sealed with a layer of Ranger Collage Medium in Vintage
  • Tim's stitch stamp used at the edges with Archival in Jet Black
  • The sweet matryoshka stamp was from the dollar bins at Michael's a couple years ago-- I love her!  I stamped her with Archival in Jet Black then painted her with Distress Paints.
  • The quote is from an old children's book (published in 1950, discarded), adhered with the Vintage Collage Medium
  • The twine is a piece from my snippet-jar
This really is so smooth-- if you've got a hexagon punch, I recommend creating a patchwork and sealing it-- I'm so impressed with the smoothness and flexibility the Mod Podge and Collage Medium yielded.

I'll share this with a friend as a bookmark.

And on the subject of nesting dolls, my mom just informed me that I will inherit her huge collection of nesters!  She has gobs of holiday nesters, but also totally random sets: from planets to world leaders, rabbits... I feel lucky.

And I'll share this with the peeps at Simon Says Stamp on Wednesday for their tag challenge.  Considering there's a book snippet and a library card here, I'm also going to share at the Simon Says Stamp on Monday challenge!

  4. You know I love me some bookmarks and this one is fabulous! You nailed those hexagons and I have a tender spot in my heart for Russian nesting dolls, which this reminded me of. My mom liked nesting dolls first, so now I always look out for them to honor her cause what mom thinks is cool, I think is cool. I could have no greater role model than her. That was a round-about way of saying that I love your bookmark, not only for the aesthetic value, but because it brings up some good emotions, too! Yay for warm-fuzzy feelings!
