If you ever check in on me, you know I am a big fan of birds. How do you guys like these cuties? None of these are native to my area, and I have never seen any of them in real life. But aren't they so cute? Look at how awesome the Blackburnian looks? I keep thinking that little orange bishop is a Le Conte's... also non-native to my area, but I have seen one who had lost it's way and ended up in Arcata, CA about 12 years ago.
Anyway, how do you like my little notes? Get it?: Overdue? Check you out? !!! (My hubs would say, "dorkis malorkis.")
Supplies:
- Library catalog index cards and old due date cards in the background
- Background of cards daubed with Distress Inks in Rusted Hinge and Scattered Straw through Tim's SA Honeycomb stencil. Well, the orange bishop's card had a monoprint from the aftermath of daubing, but then I made a little puddle and painted a few hexagons.
- Birds cut from my craft-copy of National Geographic's field guide to birds of North America
- Sentiments typed on typewriter
- Splatters made using the Distress Inks on my mat with some water, then flicked with a paint brush
I plan to share at Try It On Tuesday: nature, as my second entry. I'm a pretty big outdoorswoman. This is "my jam."

What an impressive array of lovely bird-day cards you have created. They are stunning with the layered images you created. I love these as much as your first Nature Inspired entry. STILL loving that typewriter, too.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a few days of lovely weather in Oslo, sunny and about 10 degrees Celsius. After work yesterday I sat on my balcony, realizing I heard the birds sing for the first time this year. I think that, more than the beautiful weather, gave me the feeling of spring. Birds are lovely creatures, can't imagine a world without them, but I'm no good at names and such. These cards are beautifully made, very Mimi style, which I love!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful selection of cards, the birds look fantastic. thank you for joining us at TioT's.

I just don't know how you do it! You take the simplest designs and make them so captivating and artistic! Girl, these rock my world today!!!
ReplyDeleteI love birds too and I love your cards! So pleased you joined us again at Try It On Tuesday! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteLove, love, TRIPLE LOVE! These are so great! I really like how they go together, yet each one is its own unique scene. As for birds in my area, I am not too knowledgeable. There are magpies, which are generally NOT appreciated around here, and my dad also digs hummingbirds, which appear to have an aggressive streak and which I would not want zipping around my ear area or nostrils. But thank you for sharing some beautiful bird art and for teaching me some bird knowledge! And hey- I will always appreciate library humor, so I'm a dorkis malorkis right along with you!
ReplyDeleteVery cute birds and nice idea.
